A Twitter banner is the header at the top of your profile page. It’s the most prominent image your followers will see and therefore the most visual marketing space you can use. The recommended dimensions for Twitter banners are 1500×500 pixels, which is a 3:1 aspect ratio. The maximum file size is 2 MB and supported file formats are JPEG, GIF and PNG.

It is important to understand that your profile picture will partially cover the lower left part of your Twitter banner. In addition, both the Search and More icons are transparently displayed in the top right corner of the mobile app. So, when designing your banner or choosing an image, be careful not to put vital information in those areas as they may be unreadable.

How big should your Twitter profile picture be?

As with most profile pictures on social media sites these days, the image appears in a circle on Twitter. Recommended dimensions for profile images are 400×400 pixels. However, you may not want to fill all of those pixels since the corners are cut off when cropped to a circle. Instead, try to place your face or brand icon in the center of the image.

What is the right size for a tweet image?

Tweets with images consistently get more clicks, likes, and retweets than tweets without images. Tweets with visual content are basically: three times more likely to be engaged† Just adding an image isn’t enough though – it has to be the right size to look real.

The optimal size for in-feed photos is 1600 x 900 pixels. A tweet image must be at least 600 x 335 pixels. Therefore, aspect ratios can vary from 2:1, 3:4 and 16:9, especially for mobile. If the platform ever adds an Edit button, you can even change previous images after posting.

Does Twitter Compress Images?

By default, Twitter compresses images to store data. However, you can adjust your settings to view and upload high-quality photos up to 4K. To do this, go to Settings and Privacy-> Data usage. First, disable the data saver.
