Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update for March 2022 is here

Samsung Galaxy Note9.

TL;DR

A new Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update is available. The update includes the March 2022 Android security patch. Samsung has moved the phone to a quarterly schedule, but has still updated it almost monthly.

In September 2021, Samsung moved its 2018 flagship Note phone to a quarterly update schedule. Theoretically, it should have only been updated twice since then.

However, in the past six months, the phone has been updated three times in December, January and February. Now we have a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update for April 2022 with the March 2022 Android security patch (per Droid-Life). That’s four updates in six months.

Since Samsung doesn’t need to update this nearly four-year-old device that often, it’s good to see that it continues to do so.

So far, we’ve only seen the update on Verizon-branded versions of the phone. However, it is likely that it will reach other variants in the coming days and weeks. The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 update has build number QP1A.190711.020.N960USQS9FVC5.

Unfortunately, it looks like the update won’t have much more than the March 2022 patch. Despite Samsung’s generosity with updates to its aging flagship, it still doesn’t have the resources to bring any new Android upgrades or new features.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has been unanimously voted the best smartphone of 2018 by both Android Authority and our readers.
