A developer has discovered that Apple’s Studio Display has 64 GB of storage, meaning it has the same storage and processor specifications as the 9th-generation iPad and iPhone 11.
It wasn’t announced at the Apple event and it isn’t listed in Apple’s tech specs, but the new Studio Display comes with built-in 64GB of storage.
As discovered by Twitter user Khaos Tianbut only about 2 GB of storage is actually in use.
It’s not surprising that the monitor needs storage space, since it does run on the A13 Bionic processor and iOS 15.4. This allows the screen to include features such as the webcam’s central stage.
64GB is more surprising, though. It’s unlikely Apple plans to use the storage for more features, though 64GB equates to the highest-capacity Apple TV 4K. What is more likely is that it has to do with economies of scale, and that production with less storage would involve production changes.
Khaos Tian’s tweet listing the Studio Display’s capacity was first noticed by Consomac.
