Before anything else, we need to talk about Discord notifications and why anyone would want to turn them off.
When it comes to social media notifications, you usually want to leave them on. If you turn off Facebook notifications, you might miss a direct message, an important update from a Facebook group, or a birthday. If you turn off Instagram notifications on your device, you won’t know when someone likes or comments on your photo.
In neither case, however, is there an incredibly annoying double beep.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does mute on Discord do?
When you mute something on Discord, be it another user, a server, or a channel, you will no longer get notifications when there is a new post in that thread. If your friend sends you a message and you muted him, his new message is still in the conversation, but you won’t receive a notification. If you’ve muted a server or channel, new messages won’t trigger notifications for you.
That said, if someone pings you, meaning they type @[your username] in their message – you will still receive a notification. That’s why people don’t like to be pinged.
How do you stop all notifications from a server?
Right-click on that server and then click Notification Settings > Nothing. In addition, you can suppress all role entries.
